Bali is an island in Indonesia known for its delicious coffee, volcanoes, surf, rice terraces, monkey forests, temples, and so much more. I visited Bali as one of my excursions when I studied abroad in the spring of 2017. The island has so much to offer and is perfect for the budget traveler.

If you book a trip to Bali I would suggest taking a small boat trip to the island Gili Taragwan and staying for a night. This little island was the perfect getaway and it allowed me to reflect on my life when seeing how little these individuals lived with. The only form of transportation on this island was walking, pedal bike, and horse and carriage.

What will I never forget about Bali? The pure genuine happiness that these individuals expressed with so little. They were always smiling and thankful beyond words. One man was moved to tears when my friend and I left him a $10USD tip when dropping us off at the airport. For us it was two coffees but to him it was worth so much more.
